M.E.TA. Project

M.E.TA. project (Matter and Energy from Tannery Sludges) intend to address the issue of the management of Tuscany Tannery Sewage Sludge; Tannery Sludges constitute a critical environmental aspect for the territory, and M.E.TA. project studies possible strategies for energy recovery or material, in order to make more sustainable the treatment cycle of wastewaters and, consequently, the Tannery production sector.

The project will examine, in parallel, also other types of waste that are typical of the sector, with which you can develop managerial and / or energy synergies.

The aim of the project is to provide the district tanning production, but more generally to the Tuscany region and nationally, the possibility of a scientific analysis and feasible the chances of recovery (energy and / or materials) on types of waste for which the solutions currently practiced can be considered still be optimized.

The ultimate goal is to build a new model of green economy based on synergies between companies producing waste, technologies and end-users of recovered resources, defining possible scenarios for the creation of new types of businesses. The project intends to address this challenging task by creating synergies and collaborations between Tuscan companies belonging to different sectors of production and services, along with qualified Research Centre.
